These are the rules our newsroom works to. They apply to every reporter and editor at BriefAsia, and they reflect the standards Asia Press Centre Group expects of its titles.
We publish only what we can stand behind. A story may move fast, but it does not move until an editor has checked the sourcing, chronology and claims.
Advertisers, sponsors and partners do not assign, approve or preview newsroom coverage. Commercial work is labelled and produced separately.
We name sources whenever possible, protect them when necessary, and explain anonymous sourcing in plain language.
When we correct a published article, the change is recorded publicly with the original wording, corrected wording and editor sign-off.
Reporters disclose conflicts to editors before assignment. We do not let personal holdings or relationships shape coverage.
Automation may assist research, transcription and translation, but every published fact and byline remains human-accountable.
